Yes, this is a significant argument the “No” caucus is trying to make to fellow YIMBYs. If we had to fight internally over every possible rent control measure, it’d be a huge distraction from our core mission. Some “Yes” people don’t believe there will be many such expansions since there are only 15 today, but (a) more and more cities will feel the housing crunch soon: I’d expect places like Stockton to talk about rent control within the next 5 years, maybe doubling the number of cities; and (b) why push so hard for Prop 10 then?
